Hello! My name is Samantha Wiers and I am a Pre-K and Kindergarten educator at Borculo Christian School. I am so excited to be on staff at BCS for my fourth year! I enjoy working with young learners and exploring God's world with them!
I hail from Michigan's friendly neighbor, Ohio. I grew up working on my family's vegetable farm in the northern part of the state. After high school, I moved to Grand Rapids in 2006 to attend Calvin College where I earned my BA degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Language Arts. During my Calvin years, I gained experience working with elementary and middle schoolers through tutoring at schools and being a camp dance coach counselor at Spring Hill in Evert, Michigan. I enjoyed being involved in many extra-curricular activities at Calvin. I taught tap dance, headed a few Airband competition acts, played intramurals, got involved with a great women's Bible study group, and helped with the F.A.B. fashion shows.
Upon graduating from Calvin, God made it possible for me to teach in Freeport, Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas. What amazing experiences God blessed me with while there! I taught first grade and kindergarten for two years at a large Christian school on the island before heading state-side again.
I moved back to Michigan in 2014 to take on my current teaching position at BCS!
I enjoy doing many things outside of the classroom. Some of my hobbies include paddle boarding with my dog, going on long walks, traveling to new places, and reading. I also like cooking without a cookbook, going to local concerts, catching up with friends, and hanging out with my whole family.
